Replacement Upvc Door Handles: It's Not As Expensive As You Think

Replacement UPVC Door Handles

Whether you're replacing your handles or need to add more security, you can choose the perfect handle for your door. These upvc handles are easy to install and meet the required 92mm centres of multipoint locks.

The backplate fixing center and the keyhole/lever dimensions are the most important measurements. Compare these measurements with your current marks before placing an order.

Lever/Pad

Lever pad handles are made up of a lever on one side, and a paddle-shaped handle on the other. These are designed for use with key wind locks. However, they can be fitted to multipoint split spindle door locks.

Our range of upvc handles lever pads are available in a wide range of finishes. They will be displayed in the drop down list after you have selected the correct handle for your doors. Certain styles of handles are not available in all finishes. Always look over the technical drawings and size sections for the specific product you are looking for to ensure you get the right size and fit.

It is essential to ensure that when you choose the new set of upvc lever pad handles, they match the PZ (distance from the handle spindle to the center of the hole in the cylinder) of your multipoint door locks. This is because the handles must be lined up for the doors to stay locked, whether you are viewing them from the inside or from the outside. The handles we offer are designed to work with the majority of conventional cylinder locks, however it is advisable to double-check before purchasing.

You will need to remove your handles that you have already installed and then dismantle the lock case if you're upgrading to dual spindle levers for your handle because this will require a split inline cylinder. These are available separately and we have a full technical diagram to take a look at in the pictures for each product.

It is recommended to loosen the screws holding your door handle, and then examine the mechanism. You may have to loosen the screws further in the event that they are not tight, and then you can remove the old spindle and handle and install your new upvc door handle. Before putting the handle in place it is recommended to ensure that it is in the proper position. You can do this by putting your finger in the space between the door frame and the door handle to make sure it is in a level position.

Lever/Lever

The lever handles for doors are used to operate a multi-point lock that uses a Euro cylinder. They are found on many upvc double doors, as well as on some wooden and aluminium doors. They feature a lever inside and an outside paddle and are generally available in two types. Sprung - These include a spring cassette installed within the backplate to help bring the handle lever into an upright position. Non-sprung: These do not include a mechanism that can spring the handle lever into a horizontal position.

To fix the door handle of a lever that is sagging, you will need to locate the detent access hole or pin, which is usually an elongated or rectangular with a protruding hole located on one side of the handle base plate. Once you have located the detent access hole or pin, you are able to remove it using the help of a screwdriver.

Once the handle is in a horizontal position you can re-install the screws and tighten them so that the handle remains secured to the base plate. Consider applying a threadlocking product to the threads of screws to increase grip and stop them from loosing over time.

Lever door handles that droop can be caused by various causes. The most frequent cause is that the fixings aren't tight and the lever bearing to get tangled against the door. It could also be that the levers may not have been operated at a right angle, which compresses the latch mechanism and stops it from fully springing into motion.

Another common reason is that the sprung lever is not operating correctly and this is usually due to the spring not being in the proper position within the backplate. To check whether the handle has returned to its horizontal position, simply turn it.

It is crucial to fix any door handles that are damaged as soon as you can. This could lead to excessive wear on the screws and the handle might fall off the base plate. It is also a good idea to tighten all loose screws on a regular basis, as this will help to prevent them from becoming loose.

Lever/Snib

These upvc door handles are also known as 'Snib' handles and feature a snib button at the top of the lever that you can press down to lock your door in the event that you don't have a dummy lock. They are usually fitted with a Fullex 68PZ (that's 68mm between the spindle's center and lever or the lock centre) door lock. We also have a range of other  door handles  with 68PZ from manufacturers like Ferco and Fab & Fix.

You can update your home by changing the door handles regardless of whether you're replacing your existing handles or installing new ones on doors you've constructed. There are various styles available for door handles made of upvc, including the classic lever on backplate. Other options include curved or straight short latches, and knobs that resemble dummy knobs to lock multi-points. These are ideal for French doors.

Rose door handles are circular or oval-shaped versions of lever-on-backplate handles. These types of door handles have a lever or knob on a backplate which is placed behind the lever or knob and is often referred to as the rosette, however certain back plates can be detached for concealed fixing.

There is a variety of coloured and chrome finishes available for these handles that match your door and other hardware, including hinges, knobs and bolts. Some handles come with grub screws, which assist in firmly attaching the knob or lever to the spindle. Some handles come with bathroom spindles which can be used for bathroom locks. They also come with a thumbturn release mechanism, and can be used on doors for bathrooms.

Mortise

If your uPVC front door handle is stuck in the open position, the problem is most likely to be related to the tubular latch. There may be a few reasons for this, one of which is a simple lack of lubrication on the latch plate. It is possible to solve this issue by opening the door, spraying lubricant on the handle and lock. Or, it could be that the latch plate is dislodged from the backplate. This can be a bit more of a problem and requires a professional to repair.

A multipoint door handle is the ideal solution to the problem of a door handle that is stuck. The handles are positioned through the faceplate and are operated by a key or thumb turn knob which activates the cam that locks the deadbolt. The handles come in different sizes to suit different types of uPVC door, and come in a variety of attractive finishes that are compatible with existing hardware. The handles can be bought on the internet or through a local locksmith and can be installed with clear instructions.

If you want to replace the handle set, you'll have to know the PZ size of your cylinder. This is the distance from the edge of the inner frame of the door to the central point of the hole for the handle in millimetres. You should also be aware of whether your door has hook locks or a mortise lock. Once you have these measurements, the simplest method to locate the correct handles is to use the filter by brand option on the website. This will help narrow down your options, and then you'll be able to select the right size.

A typical set of handles includes the handle unit, two screws of different lengths, drill guides, and installation instructions. The smart versions, such as the Igloohome Smart Mortise 2+ includes the complete mortice lock, which has an integrated keypad. These are more complicated units and are best suited for professionals who install them or skilled DIYers. Some handle sets have various other accessories, such as weather strips, that can be used to improve the appearance of the door.
